Is too many I.T Professional applying?
I was just wondering if too many I.T professionals are applying for
Australian immigration.
Back in 2000, one of my friend applied with ACS and the file number
allocated to him was in the serial of 20,000 and after 2 1/2 years the
fresh serial number for the current cases is 46,000. So if you work
out this way, then 26,000 applicant in 2 1/2 years are not that much??
See if you could comment on it. regards. KIM.

Nuh, I'd say - annual quote is 110,000 for 2003, last year not sure suppose 70,000, last last year 50,000, 26 / (110 + 70 + 50/2) = 12.6%.

Hi Kim,
Those are ACS serial numbers. I would assume ACS refused some and that
others never got around to applying for migration, but I think the figure of
about 10,000 per annum is about right. IT is a highly mobile occupation.
You can write code anywhere. Migration agents, on the other hand, are tied
to particular countries where they have their expertise :-(

No, George is subtly pointing out the usefulness of migration agents,
and in doing so also pointing out the uselessness of IT professionals.
The opportunistic plug seems resonable enough. The suggestion that IT
people just "write code" is a bit off the mark. That's like saying
that migration agents just fill out forms. The IT comment is not
based on any significant experience I would venture.

Re: Is too many I.T Professional applying?
Dunno, but I did hear that that IT professionals with a good understanding
of English are more likely to get jobs.
"ARE too many I.T. professionals applying?"
:-)
