Well, not through a lack of trying, at 11o'clock tonight we had a phonecall from NZ offering my husband a job!!! Hooray!!!!
It's all systems go now, as we only have one month remaining on the medicals, but things looking much more positive than they did last week!
Thanks for all the messages telling us not to give up - you were right!!! I know we're not in yet, but it's a step in the right direction.

Did he have a contact over there, send his CV around?

He is a carpenter/joiner.
We sent his CV to countless co's from the NZ yellow pages - some replied, but were reluctant to give a job before we actually got there.
This job offer came through an advertisement in the New Zealand Herald. We sent his CV/ref's, and this company replied really quickly. The guy who owns it has 2 other english workers with him.

You seem quite knowledgable - wonder if you could tell me - we have one month's grace remaining on our medicals - as long as our application reaches the NZIS before this runs out, is that ok?

Hi Itchy,

I think it's the date they receive your application that matters, so as long as the medical is under 3 mths old at that date then it's Ok.
