teaching in australia?!?
hi ALL. im a teacher in the uk. given my notice to quit in sept 06. wanting to go to aus for a while to teach. any one got sum basic info fo rme please. e.g like whattype of visa do i need? can i go?! do i need a sponser for suppy teaching? how long it takes etc and cost. i have visitied the immi sites and am getting confused! thanks for any 1 who can shed a bit a light on this for us.

www.immi.gov.au is the site you will need to read through. There is a long way to go before you will have a visa, and giving up your job first may not have been the best thing to do, without knowing if you can get a visa. You have to ascertain if your teaching skills are sufficient to be accepted, and you will also need a medical and police check(s).
There is a forum specifically for migrating teachers, might be worth reading through that/posting there.

yeah have a masters degree in english! lol. just was typing in a rush. thanks for the advice.

We are applying to go in April,(when our work experience is up)we have sent of for our skills assessment which will take about two months to come back you need this first before you can apply...
you have to send your Degree and pgce and lot's more paper work, for this
look up NOOSR and your find out exactly what..
We are lucky enough to have a sister out there so we only need 6 months work experience but you may need a few years under your belt if you don't have any relatives out there also.hope this is of some help..Jackie
