Default tax file number

Hi there,

I got tax file number when studying in OZ before. After that I left OZ and
now I am going back to chase another degree. The problem is that will I need
to apply for a new tax file number for banking or something other else? or
just use back the old one? Thanks.

Here's the text from the website

Only one TFN is issued to you for your lifetime.

Once a TFN has been issued to you, there is no need to reapply for one if your circumstances change – for example, if you move interstate, change jobs, change your name in any way, have investments, or claim government benefits.

That is correct. I had a TFN from a working holiday and just carried on using that. I also showed the ATO my visa so I could lodge a return as a resident.
