Default Submit Visa now or wait for agent?

Hi,

I have been completing my 175 visa application online and my migration agent wanted to review it before final submission, however his office is now closed until the new year. With recent DIAC changes I am getting twitchy about waiting any longer, as it's ready to be submitted and I'd feel happier about it being a 2009 application.

I've double and triple-checked the information but if I do submit & my agent notices any errors at a later date would I be able to amend the application?

If I do wait will the fees increase on 01/01/2010?

Advise please......

Cheers,
Chrisall

Why would you pay for the services of an agent and then lodge without them looking at your application? Why didn't you discuss your timings with them before the closed for the holidays?

Not really sure what you want anyone to say here to be honest. If you want to lodge it then go ahead. I am not sure how an application can be wrong if you have been truthful. It might be missing a piece of information, in which case yes you can send most things afterwards. So long as you have skills assessment and IELTS it is usually ok.

We done our visa ourself and saved a lot of money we are in the final process meds and pcc's so looking good not stuffed it up too much

If you think the visa is straight forward enough get it in? I think people on here who have family issues i.e. custody battles with kids etc etc have a harder time.

Good luck

There is no increase in VACs scheduled for 01/01/2010.

As another person has said above, if you are concerned a dialogue between you and your agent should have taken place before Xmas.

Best regards.

PS. Have you tried sending an email to your agent? Some of us check our emails, even when offices are officially closed ...

The word Workaholic springs to mind. That's not necessarily a bad thing.

When I worked for an agency here in Perth I checked my email at 5:30 am, had it on all day at work, checked again when I got home from work and again before bed. 7 days a week. Clients expect answers and they are usually not willing to wait until the next day for them.

No, I choose when to work - I have been out for dinner this evening. I have done 2 x 1.4km ocean swims plus a 2 hour swim squad in the last 3 days.

But I still consider my clients' interests should be attended to, even over the festive period - I don't close up the entire business for the Xmas and New Year break, and I know certain other agents have a similar approach to me.

Happy New Year!

Exactly. I've closed the office officially until next Monday but we all carry Blackberrys so that we can keep an eye on emails as they come in.

I even finished off one visa application and couriered it off yesterday to the AHC in Sri Lanka for a client.

Problem is, if my wife sees me sit down and read the newspaper she finds jobs for me to do. Instead of four hours gardening and cleaning out the garage (..Monday morning...) I'd rather do client work.

Cheers,

Les

Thanks for all the responses and confirmation of my stupidity ;-) I admit - total co*k up on my part as I didn't realise my agent was on hols between xmas and new year until I received an out-of-office response to my e-mail. However, luckily my agent must be one of the workaholic types as he reviewed the form and gave me the go-ahead to proceed this morning. So PANIC OVER, application submitted aprox 22.00 31/12/09 (Adelaide time).

Cheers,
Chrisall

Must be the norm rather than the exception.

...and breathe out.
