Default Subclass 457 / 121

Hi

I have a couple of questions regarding the subclass 457 and 121. I have looked at the immi site but would like confirmation if anyone knows.

If a company is willing to sponsor someone on a 457 (temporary ens)does that person still need to get their skills assessed or do you only need skills assessment for the 121 (permanent ENS)?

Can the principal applicant go over and start the job then the rest of the family follow at a later and if so how long do they have if it is the 457?

Thanks

Hi Jonathanb
There is no formal skills assessment for a 457-you just need the skills
to do the job nominated by the employer. This is assessed with the rest
of the visa criteria.

You don't all have to travel at the same time. The rest of the family
can come any time they want (pretty much)

Cheers

there's no skill assessment for the 121 either but they are quite
different visas. The 121 is designed for someone who is looking for PR
in the long term. The 457 is more for those who want to work here for a
while and then go back home.

Which one is better depends on your circumstances, and of course your
employer. That's the big problem with both of these ones. If you get a
bad employer it can be a real problem. You can end up stuck with them.

The choice will probably come down to the job and the employer.

Hi Tony

Thank you very much for confirming that. It is just what I need to hear.
