Default Study - Years work experience needed to gain 60 points?

You lot will know! ...

To gain your 60 points post Sept 1, can you finish your course and claim 60 points, or do you HAVE to do the years work experience before you get them?

I understand you'll need the years work exp to gain the MODL points, but if not needed can you simply get your 60 once you've finished studies? ...

Just looking for clarification on this one.

Cheers

work experience requirements are different for each of the assessing authorities. What do you do, what kind of 60 point occupation are you referring to?
NJ

It's for a friend.

TRA and Hairdressing.

As I say, I know you'll need the years work exp to gain MODL points, but if not needed can you just get a positive assessment from the TRA and DIAC grant you 60 for skills?

It's just a friend at work today who is studying for his PR reckons his TAFE had a guy in from DIAC and said you won't get your 60 without the years work exp.

I just don't believe this is right ...

You get the 60 points without the years work experiance, you just need the 900 hours. Point them at the webpage for that visa, it is clear enough. You just get extra points for having done one year, which it looks like many people may need.

Have a look at the permanent residency visa pathways for onshore students - eg subclass 885:
http://www.immi.gov.au/skilled/gener.../885/index.htm

More specifically, look at the requirements set out here:
http://www.immi.gov.au/skilled/gener...e-overseas.htm

Best regards.
