hello ! i hope somebody here can help me ...

I've applied for immigration (skilled independent) in August and so
probably have quite some time to wait. I've currently been accepted
for studies in Australia and wish to get a student visa so that i can
arrive for the beginning of my studies (starting 10 feb 2003).

I'm currently in australia on a short stay tourist visa with a "no
further stay" stamp. Also being from an asessment level 3 country
(israel) i have to apply offshore.

questions :
1. can i go to NZ on a tourist visa and apply for the student visa to
Australia from there ? would it diminish/increase my chances ? would i
be better off going back to Israel ?

2. is there any complications with applying for a student visa while
my immigration aplication is being processed ?

3. does anybody know how much time is generaly required to get a
student visa providing i submit all the neccessary documents ?

any help would be greatly appreciated !
