STNI Application for victoria
Hi All,
i sent my resume to STNI Victora, they replied back with an STNI Nomination Application from. I filled it and sent it to them. I received an email from them saying that it takes 8-12 weeks for them to decide whether to give me State Nomination or Not.
I am a Commerce Gradudate, done a computer couse from Department of Electronics, having 5 years of experience in software ( networking/embedded systems).
Currently I am pursuing M.Sc(IT)final sem, thru distance education.
Are there any chances for me to get a Victoria State Nomination.
If i get the state nomination, will i face any hurdels for the completion of DIMA immigration process
Please throw light on me
I am really enthusiastic to know the answers to my questions
Thanks
Shobhan

Did you go on to the Victorian site and look at the list of nominated jobs?
Do you work in one of them?

Let me try it this way:
I believe you stated you work in the IT field.
Did you check the list of professions (still) accepted in that field? Did
you notice that there are hardly any left? That those that are left are
very, very specialized areas? (SAP, Java Security, IT Security, etc)
The areas you had given in which you had worked are not among those areas
left in the STNI. Have you worked sufficiently long in any of the handful
of areas which are left?
As far as I can tell embedded/network software development is not among the
sought after areas.
Also, as somebody else mentioned, the 8-12 weeks stated is a stark
understatement. It's been closer to 3 months for me, and I've actually
received an email from VIC saying "Real Soon Now" (riiiight). I only
attempted it for the heck of it, and because my wife and I know we want to
move to Vic. I'm not relying on it for points or sponsorship, as I have
little hope of succeeding (despite working in IT Security).

Re: STNI Application for victoria
Like most everyone says, Victoria is not giving very many IT
nominations lately. I received one over 6 months ago for Peoplesoft
which took me 5 months from application to acceptance to obtain, so be
in for a long wait and you may still be told no. I had no choice as I
was 5 points short, but now that they've added 5 points to the MODL
points since July, I am at exactly 115 so I could technically apply
without STNI now, but why bother. After 6 months since my 47sk
application was submitted to DIMIA, I've been notified that STNI
priority processing will now begin for me. I'll let everyone know what
this really means once I've been granted a visa.
