STNI application declined

STNI application declined
Despite having 16 years of work experience and TRA approval as a hairdresser the Victorian government would not grant a sponsorship.
"...decision was based on an evaluation of your qualifications and your
years of work experience..."
Does anyone know what's going on?

Why not ask SMU For better particulars?
You probably have other visa options and a job offer would strengthen an application.
Best wishes

Appreciated, Lacey!
It's hardly believable that my qualifications and experiences should not be sufficient.
It seems, they have lost the accompanying documents somehow.
Could it be, that the SMU are a bit sloppy?

Victoria doesn't select people just because they've got a skills assessment for an occupation on their list unfortunately. Did it have to be Victoria? I think WA or SA would be possible if you've got your TRA assessment as a hairdresser. If it has to be Victoria then I'd suggest you ask them for an explanation (although given the way they work it's not likely that you'd get more than one or two words of feedback from the panel) and send them a list of the current vacancies in Victoria that you think you could fill.
Cheers,

I am surprised to hear that.
I would have thought a TRA assessment was already an official approval
to Australian standards like a more-than-enough qualification.
And after all:
16 years in the trade as a registered hairdresser.
Lots and lots of additional qualifications.
What even more could they ask for?
It seems almost arbitrary.
I've been trying to get an explanation from them,
maybe they lost some of the documents......
And very maybe they will revise their decision....
If not, then Victoria just isn't 'the place to be'
and we'll try WA or SA instead.
Merry Christmas,
Alex

Am I getting you right?
A general skilled independent visa (136),
valid in Victoria AND all the other states is actually easier to obtain
than an STNI sponsorship in Victoria,
which is only a recommendation for DIMIA
to grant a state restricted visa (137)?
Easy choice then
if it weren't for the 120 points......
