STNI is the State/Territory Nominated Independent Scheme. Several states in Australia have this system and is used to attract persons with skills in demand to that state. The list of skills is normally available on that government's website and is NOT the same as the standard skilled migration skills demand list.

Normally you are required to remain in that state for a minimum of two years, keep the government unit updated with your latest address and participate in certain surveys.

Upon obtaining STNI, DIMIA should fast track your application for skilled migration. DIMIA quote between 1 to 6 months for approval of your PR visa after obtaining STNI.

For more information on Victoria's scheme, please see http://www.migration.vic.gov.au/CA25...D?OpenDocument

If you have any queries you can email me.

Good luck

Terry
