Re: Still waiting..ZZZZZZZZZZ
I recently read an article form an Australian Organisation for Solicitors and Attorneys regarding the immigration law, and as they quite rightly pointed out that because the fee is standard accross the world, we should all expect the same level of service re: processing times.
It wouldn't matter so much if we knew that everyone had to wait nearly 2 years, but it is such a long time to wish your life away.
How will waiting times be affected now that AHC London will have to deal with Dublins backlog as well as their own? They must be just as stressed as us.

It's never been that way. It's only recently that people have been
able to 'observe' how processing times can fluctuate at different
offices.

Some people have to wait a lot more than 2 years. They are still
issuing a number of visas (subclass 105/126) to people who applied
under the old system, ie pre 1 July 1999

I'm not sure if Dublin had much of a backlog to transfer.

This thread shows the real help this site gives to people who are waiting forever.Half of the replies could have been posted by myself,it`s as though somebodys reading your thoughts.Charity bags,4rum to timeline etc, etc. We`re all in the same boat and it will make us all us appreciate that visa when it finally arrives.Like a child waiting for xmas day exept you cant find the visa hidden in the cuboards.15 months waiting.

Ok Alan- what do you think would happen if i actually did contact the DIMIA myself with an enquiry? Do you think it would merely irritate them and they might decide to move us even further back? What if i were to write to Mr Ruddock? Is there essentially anything that we can do to help oursleves?
Any advice, as always, gratefully received.

G'day Yve
Me too alover, I think we must have fallen into the "I'm waiting for the
visa to get me out of here" set pattern of behaviour.
At least I know I'm not alone and that in itself is heartening.
Wishing good things for you.

Re: Still waiting..ZZZZZZZZZZ
G'day sunseekers and others,
I am so overwhelmed by the length this thread has reached, it's almost as
long as I am tall! (I'm only 'ickle- would fit into a medium samsonite bag,
not that I've tried, no not even for fun!. Well ok maybe I did once but
that's alright isn't it?).
All the messages in the thread have succeeded in raising my spirits, (even
though it's 5 years today since we returned from Oz).
The way we all seem to be following the same patterns of behaviour and
describing the same paranoid feelings, means that we can't all be going mad.
(can we?)
I'm waiting until the October half term to do our police checks, just to
keep some sort of momentum going, but I'll not tempt fate for the medical
yet. I think I'll hang onto the cash for a bit longer (my dad is Scottish
and taught me well) and wait for the 'calling'.
Nearly everybody at work knows I'm waiting like mad, even though I only told
a select few at the time of application, but kids at school I don't even
know, are asking me have I heard yet. Could it be the 'Aussie rules' screen
saver I have on my computer, which scrolls across in beautiful gold script
on a green background. Or is it the Ayers rock wallpaper on the screen. I
don't know.
Knowing all that I've read from you lot over the last few days, will keep me
sustained for a while longer. THANK YOU SOOOOOOOOOOO MUCH. I'd need a good
shrink without you.
May you receive good news soon, pre-grant letters before you expected them
and have a big bottle of Aussie red/white (delete as applicable, I'm white,
hubbie is red - so I get the whole bottle to myself he he he) under your
pillow when you awake every morning.
Cheers
Heidi

Re: Still waiting..ZZZZZZZZZZ
Hi, I'm new to the group and only found it by accident. I can't believe I've been suffering on my own for 13 months since applying when all this support was available at hand.
So many of the emotions and things you mention we are doing aswell. We're having a garage sale at the weekend to get rid of our clutter and have sold lots of furniture. We haven't put the house on the market yet, but I finish work (taking voluntary redundancy) at Christmas so I'm hoping I'll hear before then.
We front loaded our application with medicals and police checks, and have been told that the medicals will be valid for 2 years. We've just sent off the police checks to be updated, as I don't want anything to delay it further.
Got my oldest son (7) a place at a school starting February in Adelaide, but not sure how realistic this will be.
My problem is hardly anyone in the UK knows our plans so I have no-one to talk to. I suppose I have a fear that it all might not happen - what if they refuse us. Does anyone know of anyone who passed the points test (115) and medicals ok, that was still rejected?
And thats where the paranoia sets in!
Cheers

Re: Still waiting..ZZZZZZZZZZ
Skilled Independent (presumably that's your category) applications sent before May 2002 are assessed against the passmark of 110, instead of 115.
Just thought you ought to know
