One of the item in documents checklist (form 47) is "Evidence that there is no impediment to your intended marriage to your fiancé(e)"

If neither of the partners has never been married, should I just ignore it?

I'm asking the question because my fiancée received a little different checklist in her country requesting "An original Single Status Certificate that shows that the applicant and sponsor are free to
marry."

Should we stick to this requirement? I'm confused because I don't know where I can get it.

And also, in one of the threads describing supportive documents there was suggested to use "quotes of shipment" as a part of planing to move to AU. Does anybody know any AU company where I could get it?

Thanks.

I'm not entirely sure what it's all about, but I found this link which seems to give some usual information. Hope it helps

If such a statement of being single exists in your country and she has been asked for it, she should provide it. It won't be in the generic list because not all countries have such a thing.
If she can't get one she should contact her CO and explain
As for shipping quotes, you get thrm by contacting companies that ship personal possessions. Tell them how much is to be moved and they will give you a quote.

I can only answer from Finland, but getting what is equal to citizenship registry (bit like birth certificate), if I get one for myself, it tells all marriages, children born to me, any divorces etc. so might be similar certificate? Btw if I asked for my birth certificate from Finland, it would hold all that info, including my parents divorce, any marriage afterwards etc.

Thanks, I'm impressed that the link really leads to the country of origin of my fiancee. I don't recall I'd have mentioned it here. Or is just Google so powerful?

Thanks as well. We don't have any CO yet, still in the process of collecting documents. We're going to look into it and find out if both of us need it or only she.

No, in all honesty I had a quick look at your other posts on BE to see if you'd mentioned where she was from so that I could perhaps give you better information. I'm not stalking you - honest!

What will happen if we get married after lodging the application for prospective marriage (before the visa being granted)? I know that we shouldn't do it and I know that if we do it we should report it but does DIAC has a chance to find out?

If your situation changes you do need to inform your CO - why would you consider not reporting it?

Because they might ask us to change our application from prospective to partner (married couple) visa and we can't fulfill the requirements..

(And don't ask me why on earth we would get married. Sometimes, there are things "beyond your control")

Can DIBP find it out if we don't report it?

No one is going to advocate trying to deceive DIBP. Whatever the 'beyond your control' bit is, perhaps you should seek the services of an experienced MARA agent.

Yes they will find out because sooner or later you need to provide a marriage certificate and you can't have two of those with different dates!

Guys I think that a short discussion with a migration agent specialising in cases from the country of origin might be in order. Very silly to consider misleading the Department if there are practical solutions and it's an age-old problem. Strangely, there have been many engaged couples who for many reasons, sometimes biological reasons, can't wait any longer to get married.

Cheers,

George Lombard
