Default Spouse Visa...got it in 4 days!!!

Hi there,

We off to Australia! So impressed with the efficent service we received from
the Aussie Immigration office in London.

Sent our applications off on the Friday, and we received the approval back 4
DAYS LATER!!! Couldn't beleive it!

We almost paid £1500 to an immigration agency to complete the forms etc. for
us, and this fee did NOT include the actual charge from the Australian High
Commission!!
Anyone else in the same situation, do not be afaid to do it yourself, if it
is a relatively straight forward application. If you are reading this email,
all the information you need is at your fingertips. Thank you to others who
have shared their ideas and stories with us.

I am an Aussie living in Scotland with my Scottish husband, and we completed
the Spouse application forms (40 &47 SP).
Had all relevant info, including medicals and police reports. We were
married over a year ago and have been living together at the same adress for
2 years.
Collated everything together very neatly and labelled everything with Post
it Notes.
Luckily have a Lawyer friend who notarised all the copies free of charge!

This was pretty much the order:

Covering Letter
2 Completed application forms (40 & 47)
Stat Decs from both us us, an aussie friend and our parents.
Evidence of living at same address for past 2 years. Phone bills,
electricity, car loan etc
4-5 photos spanning our relationship
Certified copies of passports, birthcertificates, marriage certificate
Medical reports (took a day to get)
Police Report (took a week to get)
Evidence to validate ongoing relationship - past and future travel
itenaries, gym membership
My husbands CV, Payslips fo us both and evidence of savings that we will be
taking to Australia

Ours seemed to be a pretty much straight forward application as I am an
Australian passport holder and we have been married over a year.
Very excited about moving back to my home land and our future down under.

Good luck to others.

Congratulations on your visa.
If you don't have British citizenship, you should check your
eligibility for naturalisation and if appropriate, strongly consider
submit an application while still living in the UK.

The criteria for people married to British citizens are that you have
UK Indefinite Leave to Remain, and have lived in the UK for three
years (in principle, there are some detailed requirements). Check
http://www.ind.homeoffice.gov.uk

UK settled status can be lost once you move outside the UK, while
British citizenship is valid for life.

[Congratulations!!!!!

Thats Excellent news and very encouraging. My partner and I will hopefully be lodging our defacto application in the next few weeks. It's a straight forward application we have gathered all the info ourselves. We are waiting on the police check to come back (lodged 2 weeks ago) and he is going for his medical next wednesday. Stat decs from Oz should arrive in the next day or two and everything else just needs to be certified. Then hopefully our application will fly through like yours as we have a baby on the way and really want to be in OZ in time for the new arrival.

I am aussie (by birth) and also got my british citizenship this year - I have been here 7.5 years. You should definitely apply if you are eligible it opens up lots of opportunity for you both in the future should you ever want or need to come back. Since the aussie law changed and we are now allowed to have dual it would be a shame to miss the chance if you are eligible. I applied in May and got it back in July - even though the processing time guidelines were 11 months at the time of my application. I called up to get my passport back so I could travel (they don't need to hold it for the length of the processing time) I got the passport back 2 days later then my Certificate of naturalisation followed another couple of days later.....I was amazed!!!!!
Anyway congrats again and good luck on the big move!
