Question Sponsorship by a family member

Hi there

Wondering if anyone can confirm a few points with regards to being sponsored by a family member please.

I've looked at the 176 visa on the immigration website. I have a .NET Specialist positive skills assessment and my brother has a 175 visa which he validated in April this year.

How long does he have to be in the country before we can look at him sponsoring us?

Many thanks for any responses.

Your brother needs to be able to demonstrate he is settled in Australia, house job, kids in school etc. There is not a specific amount of time he needs to have been there, although you will often hear two years been mentioned as a yard stick but it doesn't need to be that.

There is often confusion with respect to how long before one can be sponsored - For parent visas it is 2 years (policy) but for skilled sponsored visas this 2 years is not a requirement. regards
