Default skills assessments forms

we have just received the skils assessments forms. has anyone had anytrouble when asking present employer to write a reference? what stops them geting rid of you when they know you intend to leave the firm? also the last page stating details of jos etc, it would take a book to write what my husband has done in 22 years of engineering, how detaikedhas it got to be?

Hi

I've just sent my skills assessment off. For my current employer, I included references from colleagues (managed to 'aquire' some headed paper), and copies of recent payslips to back these up. I hope this is proof enough.

I haven't told my boss.

Hope this helps

Mark

Your boss will find out if DIMIA do a spot check and contact him / her
though.

I filled out all of my previous employers ( loads of them ) onto a separate
sheet and attached it. I only sent references for the period of the last
four years though as DIMIA booklet states work experience 3 from the last 4
years. I had been with my current employer for over three years when we
applied, so I only sent references from this employment.

As for them getting rid of your husband if they think he is going to leave,
just threaten them with an unfair dismissal claim.

The way I approached my boss was that I told him we had no intention of
going and that we were only applying because I was almost 30 and once over
30 we would never get enough points. I told him it would take 18 months to
get the visa, then it was valid for 6 years. So, I basically said that even
if we did decide to go at some point in the future that it would not be for
7 1/2 years. I think he bought it.

Good luck....

We said similiar to my oH's bosses Told them that it was a long shot that we would be accepted and they were more than willing to sign references and wished us good luck with our application.

They aren't as happy now though as it's his last day at work today before we head off to our new life. But it's too late, we got the references

I stuck in my CV
I avoided my boss and asked my line manager for a skills reference
and
I got a letter off the HR Dept and they gave me a letter confirming last five years employment and in what capacity I am employed and this was sufficient

Good Luck
