I think that in the next few weeks we might also see some "tweaking" of the points in the light of this week's report into skilled migration - such as more points for spouse skills or for work experience in Australia. Watch this space ...

Not yet. Waiting on return of skills assessment from the IEAust. I'd best get cracking on all the other bits and pieces thought.

I'd start considering the State Nomination option then (VIC, SA, and TAS), and the new regional option (once we know what is considered "regional").

Best regards.

No it doesn't ... read the news item again.

I quote: "At this time there is no indication whether those whose applications have been lodged already will be assessed under the present 115 points pass mark, or the new pass mark - if past precedent can be relied upon we would expect applications that have been lodged already to be assessed against the 115 points pass mark. "

Best regards.

Hi Alan

The ministers initial media release back in January 2004 said in part ..

From 1 July, qualified people who want to come to Australia as skilled migrants will be able to obtain a three-year temporary residence visa if they commit to living and working in regional Australia. After two years they will be able to apply for permanent residency.

On your link it now says 2 years. Is that a direct quote from a news release or has she changed her mind (again - like the retiree visas) ??

Cheers

This reads to me that we are all OK, eveb if you haven't applied yet it seems like you've got time at the old points.

"To protect international students currently completing their studies in Australia the new passmark will not apply to those who apply before April 2005."
