Skilled v sponsored
Looking at a 175 or 176
I have the points to go for the skilled non sponsored with job in demand but I also have relatives out there.
Whats best to go for? the skilled non sponsored?
does anyone know if a particular one is quicker?

Re: Skilled v sponsored
They both take the same amount of time. If you have enough points for a 175 then that is your best bet. Your relatives are only allowed to sponsor a limited number of applicants, so if you don't actually need sponsorship then it makes sense to not apply for it.

I know before the new visa classes came in they assessed you for both the 136 and STNI, and if you had applied for the STNI but were eligible for the 136 they issued that one instead.
Has that changed now, or is it still the same?

Still the same. However, they OP was asking about 176 being family sponsored. If one of my family asked me to sponsor them while they didn't need it I would tell them no. Go for the 175.
