Hi
I’m in desperate need of advice as I am very confused about my eligibility to apply for the Skilled Independent visa to Australia.
I hope someone here would be able to shed some light on the subject for me.
I have been a Business Analyst since Feb 2005, which is the same as the “Systems Analyst†on the skilled occupation list specified here
http://www.australia-migration.com/page/261112/605
I have held 4 permanent positions in this time and I have in the last 4 months gone independent, which entails creating my own “company†and doing contract work for a client for x months.
I literally do all of those tasks listed in that link on a daily basis since 2005, however I do not have a Bachelors Degree in the subject matter.
I have contacted the ACS asking whether my experience is sufficient, however they responded to say that they can not act in a consultative capacity.
Can anyone tell me whether my experience is sufficient?
Does anyone know of a UK based Immigration company who specifies perhaps in “IT†immigration?
Any advice and pointers would be greatly appreciated!

I'd advise referring to the offical immigration website for the only official accurate and uptodate information i.e. www.immi.gov.au.
Business Analyst is on the skills list:
http://www.immi.gov.au/skilled/_pdf/sol-schedule3.pdf
The actual requirements that you are expected to meet for the role should be on the ACS website, that will advise if you need a degree or not.

Thanks for the quick response.
Maybe I have not spotted the actual requirements on their site but will have a peruse again. Like I said, contacting them directly did however not result in any help

look for the PASA word document HERE it details each of the suitable pathways and their requirements.
What I'm still unclear of, is how will they validate that I have worked where I did?
I mean - I have no problems being able to go back to previous employers (at director/CEO level) and ask them fora reference, but how will the ACS validate that what they say is true, and will I have to write an actual test on the subject matter?

You need detailed references on headed paper from current/past employers that show you have the required number of years experience performing the role.
My succesful assessment was based on my CV, which was backed up by technical references covering the number of years experience required, and a copy of my degree cert. I was not required to sit any tests.

SuperCow!
Get letters from clients stating the dates and nature of work done for them.
I did that and I was successful (I am self employed).
And write down a statutory declaration stating you duty statment. Ask a collegue to write a statutory mentioning your nature of work and experience.
Hope it helps.
Cheers,

Thank you Foha, sounds like great advice
I should most certainly be able to do that, given I have contracts stating the nature of my services and so forth.
Now all I seem to have to do is some sort of recognised ICT Business Analysis course, not sure what that would be though!

You may not need to do a Business Analyst course if your work experience is closely related to the tasks BA performs.
Feel free to contact me if you would like me to have a look at your options.

Business Analyst course or an accredited ICT degree would be suffice or BA course + ICT degree will do for 261111, is it there any requirment written by ACS in PASA Guideline for BA course specifically.

No, in fact there is no specific requirement for any course or degree/diploma as long as you meet the work experience requirement via an RPL application.
