Question Skilled-Migration Point Calculation

Hello,

I am planning to study for 2 years Master degree in IT, and then apply for skilled migration. However, I'm not sure if I will qualify since I will be over 29 at the end of my study, 29 something or 30. Additionally, I'm not going to spend this duration in regional area.
I want to know if the recent work experience waiver grants me 10 points, or it only waives the condition. Also, is it enough that my mother-tongue is one of the community languages to calim profecianecy and gain 5 bonus points?

Your help will be greatly appreciated.

In order no to be misunderstood, does the 2-year Australian qualification give me the 10 points of recent work experience?

Hi there,

Coming to your age first, If you complete your course before 30 means
if you are 29+ but haven't completed 30 still you can apply for
skilled migration.

About your regional query, you can claim bonus points in three ways

1. 2 yrs stay in Regional

2. Proficiency in community language ( If you have completed ur
bachelore in that language means all the subject which you have
studied should be in that language then you can claim 5 bonus points
for that otherwise you would have to appear for the translator test
conducted by NAATI. ( in that test you would have score more than 70%

3. if your are ready to invest $ 1,00,000 for one year with australian
government. I'll suggest you if you have this much of money then don't
come to Australia stay where ever you are :)

About the waiver, if your occupation is in MODL then you'll get 10
points else you won't.

After all this if you make up ur mind then do let me know I'll
arrange your admission in any Australian University

Cheers!!!

Age on lodgement of a *valid* application to DIMIA is what counts. Skills assessment and all the other criteria for a valid onshore (or offshore as the case may be) application must be completed first.

There are specific rules for claiming points for study in regional Australia. And these points are not part of the 'bonus' points.

The degree must be equivalent to an *Australian* bachelors - many Indian bachelors degrees taught through Hindi are not.

Where on earth did you get this information from? For the skilled points test it's not true.

Or are you confused with concessions for MODL in the employer nomination area, or points for a job offer?

Most Australian graduates do not get MODL points, although it does depend on what they study.

Dear IndianOz,

I appreciate your help, and would like to see how ypu can help in addmision to a good university. Infact I have already accepted in UWS, but friends of mine who are there adviced me to change it since it has not good reputation there. They suggested UTS, but it's not regional.

If I cannot score the 120, do u think SIR visa is an option in this case, or other regional options?

Sorry for my endless questions, but it's because I want to make a wise decision.

While reading through the SIR visa eligibility conditions, it's mentioned as a note that the 2-year study must be in regional area. Does it apply for the 60 points professions, or for 50 point's?

How can I obtain a sponsorship from a territory, and how difficult is it?

Dear Bluegrass,

First you made up ur point that whether you wanna go to Regional Area
or not . AS far as SIR is concern u need to have 110 as per present
guidelines.

"While reading through the SIR visa eligibility conditions, it's
    > mentioned as a note that the 2-year study must be in regional area.
    > Does it apply for the 60 points professions, or for 50 point's?"

I think you are getting confused, SIR is for those who can't make 120
points. If u have already stayed in Reginoal for 2 yrs then you
already qualify in 120 point scale until you are not above 30.

As far as your admission is in concern, First you choose uni, then
decide on this whether you wanna go to Regional or not. Then I'll
definatly look into it. And do let me know from which country u belong
to. because in near future DIMIA is going to be harsh in for some
countries in terms of students visa.

Cheers!!!

Unhappy Re: Skilled-Migration Point Calculation

Dear Sir,

I'm from Lebanon - Middle-East. Infact, I have my passport already in the embassy awiting the visa. However, I felt as I've done a mistake for choosing the wrong university (UWS), which is not regional and expensive. Also, my current representative didn't take the Uni permession to allow me late to the semester, and hence I was admitted to the next year, which in turn will delay my graduation and make me lose points for age. I'm now confused whether to proceed with my current offer, or shall I apply to another uni which is more suitable. I mean do we have the time?
Additionally, the visa is expected to be issued in this month as the representative told me, where I'm a bit suspecious.
Anyway, could you please refer me to your site or contact address so we can check what to do next?

Thanks for your help.

Hi Bluegrass,

i won't say that UWS is a bad choice. yeah it's there that it's not
regional. But you can confirm if they regional campuses or not. As you
told me that ur visa has been delayed so it's too late for the July
intake. Now you can come in March intake. As you have mentioned that
by March'2007 will be over age. Bluegrass, it's long time i think in
between DIMIA will also change their points again. So you see what's
best for you.

If you have more queries then you can contact me at
[email protected]

Cheers!!!
