Re: Skilled entry
Thanks for the link. I did Geography with Natural Hazard Management with multiple GIS modules (so lots of mapping/spatial data handling).

Geosurfer,
You could apply as a geologist as well i suppose. GIS job description falls into Geological exploration as well. As you have studied natural hazard management, you are more likely to get positive assessment under geology.
Goodluck

I dont think he would, based on what he has written, pass a skills assessment as a geologist

Re: Skilled entry
I'll take a look this evening but I doubt that I will fit into the Geology category, I have studied Geology but without specialisation and my current job does not really encounter Geological processes on a frequent basis. Flood mapping and data manipulation are my present main duties. All very GIS based. I'll look later though - cheers!

Re: Skilled entry
Hi there!
Wow looks like my post might now be superfluous since you are being guided so thoroughly by the others
I just wanted to add, as mentioned in a previous post, I would strongly suggest as well that you get in touch with a Migration Agent, part of our work (well at least we do this in our company!) is looking at your qualifications and work experience and finding a suitable occupation on the list. Having said this, in the odd case that there is really no occupation at all we do let our client know so they can obtain a partial refund.
If does look like you may already have found a suitable occupation so you will need to look at whether you fullfil the requirements for a skills assessment and also whether you fulfill the other visa requirements for the visa you want to apply for.
Good luck with the application, feel free to get in touch if you would like assistance from a Registered Migration Agent (incidentally, we also offer a Do-It-Yourself handbook for skilled visas which will still give you step-by-step instructions under guidance by an Agent without having to pay for full representation).
Cheers!
