Question SIR 2nd stage?

We are about to apply for the STNI(2nd stage SIR visa holders) .Does anyone know whether we have to redo our medicals & police clearance from the country we originally came from?

Yes you all have to re-do medicals but the health requirement is reduced in that there is a health waiver in cases where significant costs are likely to be incurred (which would normally mean refusal of the visa) in that the Minister can waive the health requirement where these costs are found to be "undue". So a higher ceiling on what costs they will accept.

Will need Australian police clearance and maybe UK one if you have visited the UK during the last 2 or 3 years - is always safer to get a new UK one so you do not hold up processing if, for some reason, the case office requests it. It may be requested eventhough you have not returned in the previous 2 years e.g. UK clearance obtained March 04, SIR granted July 04 - arrived in Australia March 05 - so since the UK clearance was supplied, you have lived in UK for 11 months and 2 weeks, and Australia the last 2 years - is likely they may ask for UK clearance in this scenario - so best advice is to get it anyway.

Why would they ask for a medical in these instances? They don't ask for it at second stage spouse visa.
