Simple question - difficult answer ! Working in Australia
Hi all,
The more information we read the more confused we become !
Heres the short version, I am 38, my partner is 23, we have 2 children 4 and 1.
My partner has an uncle in Perth who has a succesful company, he wants us to "go and try the life style"
He is willing to pay all flight costs, accomodation etc
Heres the catch - Is it certain that I cant get permit to work due to my age ?
Is there anything available that would allow me to work for him and get me a valid tax file number or is it a case of I can work legally on a volunteer basis (food and lodge etc)
Thanks in advance for any help
Tony

You need to have a skill in demand in Australia. What do you do and what qualifications do you have?

You can certainly be sponsored for either temporary work visa or a permanent one, if all the prerequisites are there - the sponsoring company qualifies, the job they are hiring you for is gazetted, etc. etc. The age is not a problem, generally speaking the age of 45 is when some visas become unavailable.

If you are talking about being too old for the Working Holiday Visa - then yes, the upper age limit is 30 - but as you have children you would also be ineligible. A sponsored or permanent skilled visa is your best option.
