Just recieved an email this morning asking for the following;

A current assessment by a Psychiatrist is required. Please forward a report addressing;- history ( including details of previous hospitalisations)- current managements and requirements for psychiatric care and hospitalisations-prognosis. Is the applicant able to live independently? If applicable, please also comment on employment restrictions. (Please include the applicant’s employment history for the last 5 years)

This is after my medical was sent to HAS, and this is probably required as I did confess to suffering moderate depression and self harm back in 2002/03. As for the employment restrictions there isn't any as I have been in full time work since early 2005 but im now really worried about this

The fact that there are no work restrictions or anything like that goes well in your favour. Are you still with the same GP as then? If so I suggest a chat with him/her. It will be related to what you admitted, because its fairly recent, but I wouldn't panic. You also need to make sure that your GP finds you a referral to someone who can see and outline the advantages of you being in your current relationshi[p etc - good way of overcoming depression, making a new life etc

Thanks Pollyana, Im not with the same as GP as after that time in my life I moved from London to Cambridge and successfully made a new life for myself and like I said I have been working continuously since moving for the last 3+ years.

I am about to call my CO and will look to see my current GP this week, who by the way is fully aware of what happened as details were passed to her when I moved.

I didn't have to declare what happened but wanted to as I wanted to be open and honest about it, mostly because Im over it now and have nothing to hide. I just hope it doesn't affect things and the worry kinda upset me this morning

The fact you aren't hiding anything will be good. There have been lots of posters on here with similar conditions, and they have got through. Also its a spouse visa and often they are more lenient on medical issues (kind of a medical waiver) so fingers crossed.

Ah I see, thanks Pollyana, I may just do what you suggested

Just spoke to my CO regarding this, and she said pretty much the same as you Pollyana, in that its very rare for a medical issue to get in the way when it comes to spousal visas, and IF it does a medical waiver can get given. Seems I just have to get a psychiatrist assessment, give details of my stay in hospital with dates and reasons and employment history in the last 5 years.

I feel a little less worried by this now after the chat with my CO and your sound advice Pollyana. Thank you very much!

Off to see my GP next week too to get this sorted ASAP!

I'm guessing too that if you have spoken to your CO she would've said if there was anything else outstanding, so with a bit of luck once the medical stuff is sorted you should be as good as there

Yeah pretty much hun. She didnt mention anything about needing more evidence of relationship or anything else to do with the app so yeah I think its just getting this medical stuff done and dusted now :curse:
