Short term work visa and MISC
Hi folks,
I am Brit now living and working in Canada (still waiting on PR but getting there) and have found the discussion boards a fantastic source of honset and intelligent info and was wondering if anyone with knowledge of the Oz system could help me with a question.
The company I work for does specialist offshore work around the world and is currently gearing up to do some more work in Oz, normally one of my colleagues that holds a relevant passport does the work but due to a busy schedule we now need to get people with Canadian and UK passports working legally there short term, it should only be a matter of 2-3 weeks in country. The other sticking point is that we also need a MISC card to work in the Oz maratimes and this cannot be issued without a valid working visa.
Does anyone know off the bat which visas would be most appropriate? Or anyway to get the MISC before getting your visa issued when entering the country? (means a wait for processing times whilst down there) The advice we have been given by lawyers here seems to be a bit OTT with talk of 4yr visas or nothing.
Any thoughts or comments appreciated.
