Default Returning on an ETA

I have been on a 457 visa up until last year when it expired and my employer applied for a new one. During processing I was placed on a BridgingA Visa (subclass 101). Unfortunately I lost my job and my visa application was withdrawn. With less than 28 days to go and no new job, I now plan to exit Australia, head to NZ or wherever the cheapest flight takes me, apply for an ETA and return. I want to continue searching for a new job / 457 sponsor. Question is, am I likely to be refused re-entry?

Default Re: Returning on an ETA

There is a significant chance they will not grant an eta. If they do, then they may grant with a no further stay condition.

An ETA/eVisitor does not come with a no further stay condition, as far as I know.

However, ETA/eVisitor does not carry an entitlement to enter Australia. If an Immigration officer does not believe that an individual arriving in Australia is a genuine visitor, he or she may cancel the ETA/eVisitor and refuse entry. Unusual, but not impossible.
