Return visa
#1
Hi all. I have a pr visa for aus which was granted in August 2011 We validated in June 2012 and lived there for 3 years. If I right, my visa runs out this coming August. We may consider moving back. What do I need to do to ensure that my visa is extended?
Thanks everyone.
Steven
Ps. We moved back to uk in June 2015
Thanks everyone.

I wouldn't wait, just apply for the RRV and you shoudl get a five year one. The reason I wouldn't wait is because they do change the rules sometimes.

Hey thanks. Let's say I applied in March and was granted June, do I need need to validate it like the or visa and if so when would I need to be in Australia by?
On our pr visa there was 4 of us. the cost of the return visa appears to be around £180. Is that the full cost for all of us or per person?
Thanks guys

You are now all individual visa holders and need to make individual applications for the RRV, hence separate fees. If you wanted to be risky, one of you could apply and then when and if you are ready to move back the others could apply at that point and claim that their link was the family member with the RRV. But not sure if I would personally do that.

Thanks poly. If I let the current visa lapse, do you know how long I have to apply for a return visa as I'm sure there will be a limited time frame or do I have to apply before it runs out in August?
Thanks again
Thanks again

There are not really hard and fast rules and rules do change too. You currently qualify for a five year RRV, the only upside to delaying your application is that you get an extra six months, the downside is that rules might change on you.

Yeah that's the niggling part, that rules do change. Think I may look into over the next month or so. Thanks for replying
