Default Return of bond money.

I know this question has probably been asked a million times but I need to know.
We arrived in Oz 15th August 2005 and since then we have came home. Since coming home we no longer have much contact with our AOS who is my brother, blaming us for not giving it enough time. Anyway my question is we were understanding that the bond money was released 2 years from entry date, but just had a email from them saying it is October. Can someone please give me more information. Thankyou.

I am sure that it is 2 years from entry date as I got a letter earlier this year to say that my AOS period for my brother and his wife is now over and am sure it was 2 years from the date of entry for them. As I am not in Oz currently, I have not done anything about it and have left it as I think it is in a term deposit facility and will sort it out when I go home next year. I can check the paperwork but will only be able to do so later today....maybe someone may be able to post earlier. Will check in later.

Edit - added this link from immigration website which confirms my understanding above

The money would actually have been placed in a term deposit with Commonwealth Bank for a 30 month period. There should be paperwork with this, Deposit certficates, date of maturity, interest details etc - presumably your Assurer never passed these on to you.

Tony - does the money automatically get deposited into the bank account after the 30mths or am I expected to do something to get the money back? If I do not do anything, will there be a problem when I eventually get round to something about it - say in a year or so?
