Cool Resident Return Visa?

Hi Everyone

We emigrated to Oz on an Skilled Sponsored Visa April 2005.

We returned to England in July 2005, due to personal problems.

We are comtemplating returning to Oz in 2 years time after our eldest daughter has completed her English Exams.

What are the restrictions on this? Considering that we have been back in England for 6 months now? Will it involve a residents return visa or a new application?

We are considering al options.

Your original visa is valid for 5 years, so providing you are not over that time limit you will be able to come and go as you like.

If it's after that, you can only apply for a RRV if you are still in Australia before your visa expires. If you are not in Australia and your visa expires then you will have to reapply again.

Your visa should have a 5 year re-entry facility: (take a look at the visa label and see the last return date). Also read form 968i:

Curious - if you are in Australia at the time that you need to apply for an RRV, how long does it take to get one? ie would it be feasible to go to Aus for a few weeks and get the RRV whilst there?

Dear OS,

An RRV can be a counter exercise or take months, depends on whether you've got the two years in the past 5 under your belt or are making a special case.

Cheers,

And it's much easier to make a "special case" if you are clearly living in Australia (as a PR), even if you haven't got the full 2 years. However, just visiting won't do, normally.
