residency requirement for australian citizenship
Hello everyone,
Can anyone help to clarify the residency requirement to obtain Australian citizenship. I got my PR visa in May 2010, came to Australia for my first entry in end of April at 2011 and left at early May. I moved to Australia permanently again in late February of 2012. There is a 10 months gap in between my first entry and permanent arrival. But after moving permanently, I was outside of Australia for only 20 days. Which makes total 11 months outside of Australia after first entry. And in April 2015 it would be 4 years as a PR in Australia and if I don't go abroad by this time, will I be eligible to apply for Australian citizenship?
Actually I heard some people saying as I stayed 10 months continuously outside Australia after my first entry, that time will not be count towards my 4 years citizenship requirement? Is there really any such rules for continuous maximum stay outside Australia?
Will highly appreciate any suggestions.
Regards, Alok

This is an extract from DIPB website:
I think there is no issues with yous situation.
Cheers
The residence requirement is based on the time you have lived in Australia and the time you have spent outside Australia.
You must:
have been living in Australia on a valid Australian visa for four years immediately before applying which must include the last 12 months as a permanent resident, and
not have been absent from Australia for more than one year in total, in the 4 year period, including no more than 90 days in the year before applying.

Looks to me like you can apply April 2015 or thereabouts.
