Default Quiting job after grant of ENS Residency - Will my visa be cancelled?

Anyone,

I have been in Australia (for 2 years, working for current employer on 457) and I just received notice from my agent that I have my employer sponsored (ENS) residency through! The only problem is I no longer wish to stay with my current employer.

If I quit, can DIMA cancel my permanent residency visa? Or is my continued employment a matter purely for my employer and I (ie for them to recover costs incurred in application etc...).

I am pretty sure the answer is "No", but if I was you I would double check with someone more qualified than me...

Hi CNR,

Best to chat to an employment lawyer as well as a migration agent - from my side as a migration agent I'd want to know the circumstances, since visas can be cancelled for a range of reasons - you'd also want to find out what your rights are under the contract of employment.

Cheers,

If you get anywhere with this, let me know as I am in the same position (nearly)
