A question about points and degrees for the experts

A question about points and degrees for the experts
I would like a simple answer to a simple question. I am a logistics proffesional (15 years) with no tertiary/higher education qualifications.
As my chosen profession is not on the MODL and I have not worked the requisite period of time, 18 mths out of the last 24(I had a baby and took a couple of years out), would a degree aid my migration assessment?
I am currently in year 2 of a BA(Hons) in business and management and I have managed to get a job back in logistics, so by the time I finish my degree, I SHOULD be ok to apply shouldn't i? The only other way I could try would to be an exchange visa but unfortunately my company doesn't have branches in Australia.
Please give me some good news!!!!
Alan?????
George?????
Anybody there??

Re: A question about points and degrees for the experts
You degree will probably give you a 50 point occupation. You will need to
have 2 years of work experience in the last 3 after you graduate to get
those 50 points. Unless you have close relatives already living as
permanent residents or citizens in Australia it is unlikely you will score
enough points for skilled migration. I would suggest that you approach a
migration agent and ask their advice.

Re: A question about points and degrees for the experts
Jerry
In a case like this it would be an interesting grey area to see if
pre-graduation work experience could be acceptable to DIMIA.
However, a degree would be a must for a skill assessment from
Vetassess.
And as you say, even with a degree ad a 50 point nominated occupation,
a sponsoring Australian relative is usually needed for success in the
application.
The alternative for the original poster would be if he could find an
Australian employer keen to hire him, some employer nominated options
might be available. Finding that hypothetical Australian employer
without PR and being physically in Australia is generally easier said
than done however.
