QLD State Sponsorship - How Long?
Hi there
does anyone know who long queensland state sponsorship takes ? and am i right in my understanding that there is no fee involved, merely a case of sending application form and skills assessment details ??? Thanks H |
Re: QLD State Sponsorship - How Long?
Hi H,
We applied for Queensland State Sponsorship in May last year and heard back within about 3 weeks. You will not need to pay a fee for applying for sponsorship. The whopping fee comes later when you apply for your visa. Hope this helps. Cathy

I spoke to Migration and Skills Recruitment Queensland on Thursday and was told that until recently apps were being granted (or not) within a few days, however with the recent changes to priorities the number of apps received has increased exponentially and so he would expect an application to take a week but certainly no more than 2 !!! fingers crossed !

I had an email back from them this morning. They recieved my application on 30th Jan. Not yet being processed. Looking to take between 2-3 weeks for processing times - so could be longer than 2 weeks unfortunately..... |

Re: QLD State Sponsorship - How Long?
Can anyone provide the link for checking details on QLD state sponsorship.
Their website doesn't seem to have this info. Also, what are the skills on QLD's eligibility list |

Re: QLD State Sponsorship - How Long?
Hi,
Does anyboby know on what depends the decision of the QLD state to sponsor or not an applicant. Let's say you sent your form correctly, along with your skill assessment and that your occupation is on their list of course. In that case, is there any chance the application can be refused or do i have nothing to worry ? Thank you LB |

Re: QLD State Sponsorship - How Long?
We got told 2 - 3 weeks and it would definately be be mail not email.
Counting the days and checking the postbox!!!!! |
Re: QLD State Sponsorship - How Long?
Well.. I have just looked at the list again and the new updated list doesn't include my occupation anymore. Damn! I have just sent my application last week. If only id known before!
At least, my occupation is still on the SOL and is worth 60 points. I will have to put all my remaining energy in a 175 visa then. Thanks for you help. |
Re: QLD State Sponsorship - How Long?
If they have received it before they changed the list they may honour it. Ask.
We are trying to get an off list place. OH occupation was on the old 475 list but not on either now. Interestingly OH is mechanical engineering technologist. Mech Eng is on the 176 list, as is Mech Eng technician and Mech Eng associate but not technologist - Wheres the reason in that? |
Re: QLD State Sponsorship - How Long?
Yes, i have heard of the off-list thing. I will look at that for other states as well.
I don't think QLD has received my letter yet. Anyway i can just wait and see. In the meantime i must look for other available options (if there's any...). It's funny you are talking about the different terms of associate, technician and technologist cause i have exactly the same concern but for electronics engineering. They are all there on every lists except for technologist wich is mine. That's definitely hard to follow. to be continued... |
Re: QLD State Sponsorship - How Long?
Why does no-one want technologists? Do you think they just forget about it because its a 2*** code the same as a full engineer?
Either higher or lower qualified/experienced, broader based or more specialised, white or blue collar I can understand but both ends of scale at the same time, without including the middle?? |
Re: QLD State Sponsorship - How Long?
You are so right Safin...
But at this point, we can only hope for some changes in the future. |
Re: QLD State Sponsorship - How Long?
Anyone give the current processing time for QLD 475 app. sponsorship. I applied on 16.03.09 and ack on 20.03.09.:curse::curse:
|
Re: QLD State Sponsorship - How Long?
There is no one in this forum who has got QLD sponsorship recently.
|
Re: QLD State Sponsorship - How Long?
I applied on 20.02.09 and received acknowledgment on 09.03.09. Says it can take 8 weeks to process from date of receipt.

Ans to the Question from Lucben
Hi, Does anyboby know on what depends the decision of the QLD state to sponsor or not an applicant. Let's say you sent your form correctly, along with your skill assessment and that your occupation is on their list of course. In that case, is there any chance the application can be refused or do i have nothing to worry ? Thank you LB Decision to sponsor an applicant is based on many factors Apart from satisfying the basic requirements for state sponsorship ,QLD state officials also look for the following - 1.Your interest in QLD state 2.Amount that you will bring into the state for your initial settlement 3.If you have ever visited QLD before your application - this is a bonus 4.How will you survive the first few months without a job 5.Your family or friend's support during the first few months - bonus point Best wishes robi |
