proof of guardianship!!!
Hello there can anyone help.Hubby and i are trying to get to oz in 2005. I have a 16 yr old son who wont be on the visa because being 16 he wants to finish school here, therefore he will stay with grand parents.old We are going through the process of filling in the application for skilled independant migrant. The form states that if there you have children who are not included in the visa application then proof of guardianship and access arrangements must be provided. AS this is an informal arrangement does anyone have a clue as to what kind of thing i am to send.??? Does the DIMIA have a standard form or do i need to get something drawn up by the solicitor???????Is it something we can draw up between my parents and ourselves that we can all sign???? I am clueless i hope someone can advise

By your own admission you are completely confused about the visa system - hire an experienced professional straight away as otherwise you risk making a complete mess of your son's status vis-a-vis Australia.
You would not be the first person and probably not the last for this to happen to.
Why do you want to exclude your son from the application? Why not include him, he can get a visa and validate it (a holiday in Australia will do), and then move to Australia at his leisure later on.
If you exclude him, he'll have to do medicals and police checks anyway (so it won't make your application any easier), and you'll find it *much* harder to sponsor him for residence once he turns 18.
If you include him on your application and he's your natural child (of both parents) then there are no guardianship issues to worry about.
Ask on the Australia immigration or lifestyle forums for recommendations on an agent to use. And check the MARA database - http://www.themara.com.au
