Processing times...
Dear all,
I must say that i look at this forum from time to time and you all are
really helpful.
I just have a question what is the average processing time for a skilled
independant migration application.
I am in a bit of a quandry, since i applied for my PR in April, i have since
got married to my wife who is an Australian Resident. She has to return to
Australia by next February to complete her degree.
I dont think i will get my visa by then, is there anything that i can do to
speed up the process?
Many thanks
Zak

I'm not an expert but if your already married to an Aussie could'nt you get in on a spousal visa or something like that ?
I have made friends with a Kentucky girl who's gone out on a visa that only took a few months to come back (getting married next month to her Aussie boyfriend)
Good Luck with it all

Hi Zak
If you are already married to an aussie then why dont you apply for a spouse visa, i applied for a faince visa and was granted it after two weeks from posting my application, i cant see there being any diffrence in the two visas as long as you can prove your relationship is genuine to dima

Re: Processing times...
Firstly, you can't change your application from independent to family
sponsored without paying a new application fee.
Secondly, people on spouse visas generally get temporary visas for 2
years, with full PR coming later. As this is disadvantageous in some
ways (some employers prefer people with full PR, you've more security
in Australia, and the wait time for Australian citizenship starts
immediately rather than after the 2 year temp visa period), I'd keep
your skilled PR application in the system.
Adelaide are quoting a 50 week processing time.
