Default Pre-grant vs grant letter?

Hi all,

I have seen some applicants claiming they have their pre-grant letters while others have had their grant letters issued.

Is there a difference between the 2, if so what?

Thanks,

T

I know that I'll get a pre-grant letter, as I am in Aus - on 457 (nurse), applied for 136 SI (got CO today !)

I have to go to NZ to have visa formally granted, and then validated when I come home through Aussie immigration.

The difference should be fairly obvious: 'pre-grant' means that DIMIA are planning to grant you a visa, while 'grant' means they have done so.

Not everyone gets a pre-grant.

Hi all,

So if you get a pre grant does that mean yes you are allocated a visa???

The reason I ask is that my mother in law has received a pre grant for a contributory parent visa.

Thanks.

Sarah.

It may mean you are more likely to get a visa, but that's it.
However your visa is not granted until the formal decision is taken.

Is your mother-in-law in Australia currently?

Hi,

No she is in England. We got the pre grant along with the request for the large visa payment (VAC), which has now been paid & we are just waiting now. All other requirements have been met.

We have been told that it will take 2 - 4 week for the final decision.

Thanks,

Sarah.

In that case the process is just to follow instructions in the pre-grant and wait for the next step.
