Police checks only took 19 days. What postal service should I use?
For all those concerned about how long police checks took as I was,
this should be of some comfort.
I submitted ours with the payment(£10 each) on 29 August after
initially asking for the necessary form from Hampshire Police
Headquarters the day before(on 28th August). The police checks
(Person record as it is called) arrived on my doormat today, 17
September. Only 19 days after submitting them I have them, not as bad
as the 4 to 6 weeks they initially advised me.
Now I have to decide how to send the medical reports, person records
and extra form out to Adelaide. As they all cost a considerable
amount of money(there's 5 of us), I dont want them all to vanish off
the face of the earth. Can anyone recommend a reliable and safe
method of carriage as I just used the general air mail system for my
main visa forms and skills application.

Neil,
If you want to be able to track your package through to a signature on delivery I'd suggest a courier.
I've found these people competitive on price:
http://www.pods.eu.com/
Hope this helps.

Try any of the main couriers - FedEx, UPS. DHL etc. The last 3 let you track the package's progress until delivery, online. I have used these 3 and they are more or less 100% reliable but a bit expensive (say, GBP25 for a small package).
Never heard of Alan's recommended firm PODS and I would personally steer clear as they sound like they don't have much track history (which for me means several years of proven good service.)

I found the Post Office international registered service to be reliable and inexpensive.

I did swift air recorded delivery via post office on each occasion so far with no problems

I have used DHL for all my stuff, it costs a bit but always gets there in the 3 days and can be tracked all the way (can even use SMS messages to check the staus of it...sad I know).

HI Neil,
When I submitted my TRA assessment form and supporting information to
Australia I used the Royal Mail's Special Delivery service, they provide you
with a secure waterproof plastic sack/envelope and hand you a receipt.
It arrived safely, I also used the same service to send in our visa
application to AHC London, and will be using it to send in the medical &
police clearance forms.
Hope this helps
Good Luck

Re: Police checks only took 19 days. What postal service should I use?
What's the bloody point of posting them by courier when the silly sods (V. restrained use of language) are taking 5 months to open envelopes?? (see 'Help please!'). I would suggest going down there in person and handing it to them. Maybe you could offer to make them a nice cup of tea whilst you carefully open it for them. If necessary, translate/ read it to them so it gets the attention it deserves.

I would suggest verifying your facts before spreading implausible
sounding rumours.
