Police checks and medicals
My partner is getting business sponsorship for a temporary long stay visa (4 years I think), and we should be off to Melbourne in September (YAY!) so long as all goes to plan (BOOOO!)
Now, I've been noticing various posts on this forum regarding medical checks, police checks and the like. How long do these take to sort out? Are they ALWAYS requested even for temporary visas?
The problem is that time is of the essence, my partner needs to start work asap. We're waiting on the sponsorship nomination to be approved (should be another three week), and I've on London High Commission website that our visa SHOULD(!) take 4 weeks to process. Is that 4 weeks AFTER the medical and police check have been performed requested and submitted, and might it be prudent to get these things done now?
In fact, how do you get a police check done?
And what's this "approved list of hospitals" that I've heard mentioned? Which ones in Manchester are "approved"?
It's all incredibly confusing really....
ANY advice or comments would be HUGELY appreciated!
Cheers,
Ged

....and look at that the information is on the London High Commission website. Does anyone else despair at the appalling design of that site? I can never seem to find what I need....

Hi,
My husband and I went to the North Manchester Hospital today for our X-rays, they are on the approved Panel list.
We only phoned this week and got an appointment straight away. they only cost £25.00 each aswell, so I reckon it was quite cheap.
We are going for our Medicals at the Lance Burn Medical Centre, Salford, they are £70 for adults and £30.00 for kids and £12 for bloods. Again we only rang this week.
Hope this helps,
Trayla
