hi everyone ,
we got our STNI {VIC} results yesterday and they said no ....it is really heart breaking news for us..all our hopes have blown to bits ....but my hubby's profession is in the demand list or on the SOL....2231-17..so why would they deny us ....the reason she has quoted is ....
"Following a review of the information you have provided to the
Skilled
Migration Program (SMP), we regret to inform you that the
Victorian
Government is not in a position to sponsor you under the STNI scheme.
This decision was based on an evaluation of your qualifications and
your
years of work experience, taking into account the current needs
within
Victoria’s regions and industries.
Does this usually happen ???? can we appeal again ???? we need help and i would really appreciate if anybody does so ....

Victoria does look for specialities within IT - that's clear from its list - and within that there's obviously some competition, so I don't think that having a skill on their list means that acceptance is automatic.

To answer the OP's other question, I'm sure VIC SMU has a policy where you can't re-apply for nomination for 6 months.

What is your agent saying about it all?? Are they MARA registered? Have they asked you to supply more info to reapply?
To be honest Usha, yes you can get a lot of info on this forum but you are paying an agent they should be answering these questions and if they arent change agents!

well possoms , my agent is real dumb ..she said that we can apply for the SIR ...i tried looking into the WA SOL ..but could not find the ACCO code {2231-17}...
well they r recognized by the AUS immi Authority ...to change them would be stupidity ..cos we have allready paid them a huge sum ....
wmoore suggested that we pay the $100k bond and apply under the 136 category ....well i'am thoroughly confused ...hope we get tru this this someway or the other ....
can we apply for an SIR to the same state and other states too ??
cheers

In all honesty I agree with what Possoms said, you are paying and agent and you will get much better advice from them as they know your exact circumstances. Yes, this forum is excellent for general advice but we dont know the exact ins and outs of your situation so you need to be careful.
Also, you need to make sure you have read booklet 6 (on the DIMIA website) and understand exactly what visa you need to apply for - there are differences between SIR, STNI and 136 that you need to be clear about, it's no good just applying for anything only to find later that you're stuck.
Get on the phone to your agent and get her to explain exactly where you stand.

"A quick search from DIMIA's website has found:
Vic: From 1/7/05 International ICT students who have studied in Australia will be the only ICT SIR applicants eligible to apply for Victorian SIR Sponsorship.
SA: You will require a firm job offer of at least 3 months from a SA employer.
WA: Godfields-Esperance Region has 2231-11 & 2231-79 on their list.
Qld: 1224-11 (IT Manager) in Mackay City
Tas: Applicants with IT occupations must have a firm job offer of at least 3 months from an employer in Tasmania unless the applicant has strong existing links to Tasmania
NT: Applications from IT professionals will only be accepted for consideration where the applicant can demonstrate significant work experience in a field for which there is an identified skill shortage in the Northern Territory. Applications that include an offer of employment from a Northern Territory employer will be considered favourably.
NSW: IT Manager in Central West"
I would certainly say your agent should be the best person to help you.
Good luck
