Default Permanent Resident - do I need a visa label?

Hi there,

I was granted permanent residency a couple of years ago, on a spouse permanent visa (subclass 100), after being on the provisional 309. I can't find the approval letter right now (typical) but I don't seem to recall being requested to send my passport off or take it anywhere or anything like that.

I'm going to be travelling to the UK in a few weeks and it's bothering me that I only have the visa label in my passport from when I received provisional residency before I came to Australia. I'm thinking that I may need some kind of label to show I am a permanent resident here when I try and get back? If anyone might know i would really appreciate it - getting short on time if I do.

Thanks for any help.

Yes you need a visa label otherwise you won't be able to get on the return flight. And you will need to get it before leaving Australia otherwise you will have huge problems.

Have you not thought of taking out Australian citizenship rather than have to rely on visas?
