Default Passport due for expiry

I have just applied for PR and the thought has occured to me that by the time a grant is received (fingers crossed) in say 1years time my passport will have expired (due for renewal in spring).

Will I need to inform DIMIA of my new passport number as the original number supplied in the application would have expired or would DIMIA just treat it as a renewel and cross reference names etc.

regards

Julian

You'll need to inform DIMIA of your new passport details if your visa hasn't been granted *and* your visa label hasn't been placed on your expiring passport.

If you have your visa label placed on your expiring passport, you will need to carry both passports with you when entering/exiting Australia.

If you're British and resident in the UK, why not get a new passport
now? It's a lot easier and cheaper to renew your passport in the UK,
and you'll then avoid the hassle of having your visa in an old
passport.

If you get a new passport before visa grant, just send them a
certified copy of the new identity page. You can use form 1022 as
well.

provided you are *allowed* to keep both pasports (old and new) which is
subject to national law. around here (bulgaria) you are not - the old
one is being destroyed.
