passmark changes to gen. skilled migration
Help!
I have just read the following in an immigration publication (could be quite old):-
Common mistakes people make when applying under general skilled migration:
Assuming that an applicant only needs to obtain the passmark that is specified at the time of the application
The requirement that the applicant obtaining a qualifying score is a time of decision requirement and therefore even though an applicant may apply when the passmark is 110 if the passmark is increased before a decision is made they will not be treated as having passed, although they may be put in the pool.
Does anyone who applied when the points were 110 and then got increased to 120 know if this is true??! I thought that if you applied BEFORE the increase then you were OK - that you would be assessed under the old passmark even if a new passmark had come into force.

I think you 'lock' your passmark when your app is received by ASPC.

This is all old news. Pass mark went up from 110 to 115 in May 2002, and to 120 in April 2004. Existing applications were not affected - DIMIA have the legal right to apply the increase to applications in the system but chose to give a concession both times.
