Hi

House on market too! We're a 475 and we were ack on 6 Dec, but didn't reach me til 7th! So 9 months and about 3 weeks. My first pregnancy was 42 1/2 weeks - not sure for which the waiting was worse!

Hi, wow double excitement, is the 475 a work sponsered visa? sorry for ignorance trying to get head round all these visa numbers, as were now thinking it might be good idea for oh to start applying for work and run two visa's together if thats poss.
Is this the first baby? not that it makes much difference everyone is fab. good luck anyway on imminant birth, at least you know you will only have to wait two more weeks at most for baby to arrive, visa's are a whole new ball game as we all know.

Yay Chris and Marooned- Have just left holiday apartment in Manly- it is great but noisy there. Chris I hope you get that dream home. I have just moved to Killara so that DD is nearer school, but will be looking to buy a house soonish as rental money is wasted. When my furniture arrives I will be happier- apparently the French had a strike at le Havre and it sat on the docks for 2 weeks, then it has been sent via Asia so it is not going to get to Sydney this month. I am camping and people have lent me things- tonight I was given two heaters!!!!
Here on a business visa whilst waiting for the 175- October paper based, so nearly a year now.

Well only 20 more days for us then it will be a year!!!!!!
Had no idea this time last year that would be in exactly the same position.
Expected to receive visa in May/June, house on market for summer and possibly booking flights by now.Instead here we are still sitting here with our lives on hold.
The worst part is not being able to see the progression like all the online people, why don't they have a system where paper applicants can type in their details and it shows what stage your at as any other contact just to enquire what's happening is met with standard responses thereby increasing your frustration and anger.
I don't believe they are stupid they must know these responses just infuriate people, surely.
I have never paid so much money for service or goods and after a year received absolutely nothing.
They are certainly not living up to the standards of service they portray.
So meanwhile this charade continues and I slope of to wait and wait and wait and wait and wait.
I know that your workloads are enormous but please just talk to us DIAC and keep us better informed, that's all we ask for,..oh and a visa!!
We are real people and we will understand, even if you said it will be xx amount of weeks because of xxxxx
we would then go away and wait patiently but it is the not knowing that infuriates us.
Anyway, my rant over again for the week.
So blooooody FED UP!!!!!!

Pleeeeease give us our visa soooon!!

Well said!!!

I just hope we are not in the same position as you next May:ohmy:

I totally agree about some sort of website for paperbased applicants to check their status - it is so frustrating not knowing!

Hold on in there and hopefully you will get your visa soon:thumbsup:

I got all excited when I saw your name appear - but still no news. I have got your date fixed in my mind as we are a bit behind you. I actually now feel numb and it is almost not real. I'm really worried now about my info (as we're not online you just don't know about what you've submitted, is it ok etc) and about what my reaction will be when (oh please be soon) I hear anything. In my wildest dreams we go straight to grant but in reality I just know that my experience is going to be tortuous. Fed up with keeping house immaculate, hearing about how good the exchange rate is currently (bet it isn't when/if ever we hear). Why am I such a moaning misery guts! It's because I KNOW we can make a great life and contribution to Australia. ARGHHHHHHHHHHHHH

Yeah,
It wouldn't be so bad if we had a visa then keeping the house clear, (4yr old not understanding concept of keeping bedroom and rest of house in tidy state) would feel like we are aiming for something but it is all just getting to feel pointless like it is never gonna happen, house sale or visa. All you hear and see everyday is how bleak the economy is, like we really need all these blasted doom mongerers bringing it all down, they are the ones doing the damage.
One guy wrote at the beginning of the week that the BoE wouldn't reduce rates at all this week,(doom and gloom) and wasn't he proved wrong,(smart arse).
Are you through an agent?, cause they wouldn't take your case on if it wasn't going to be successful.
Anyway I'am sure it will all be fine and we all will look back around January next year and laugh our heads off,...or just cry, still wondering where our flippin visa is.

No DIY application (!) but I read the guidance so often I could quote it. As far as I can tell we are eligible and have all the right evidence but as we are often reminded people do get rejected. At first I wasn't worried but as it takes longer and longer I get more and more paranoid that I even spelt my name correctly! January it is - for an alcohol fuelled celebration - optimistism expressed may be felt!!!!!!!!!!! Off to a school meeting now - hope they keep it tidy whilst I'm gone - luckily youngest is 9 so there is a bit of understanding (but sadly not by the nearly 14 year old!).
Speak soon, chin up, eat chocolate, drink wine etc.

Keep pushing, get your agent to make more noise, you are so far outside the service charter they can't just spout 'it's a guideline' crap at you. You MUST have been unlucky with whoever got your complaint form. Make more noise mate, really - I would be ALL OVER DIAC ever day if I were you. This is a c*ck up on their part.

I lodged my paper application at the end of march 2008. got acknowlodged and case number but nothing else, on a permanent visa. got a job offer in brisbane i am a paediatric nurse so much for us being in demand. there is me my husband and my 2 daughters (3yrs) and (1yrs)on application. have emailed them for an update, wondering if i shpould do medicals and police checks now so i don't waste any more time when we do get Case Officer.

Hi liz
Sorry to hear of your woes.
I think it's going to be safer to keep your savings under the mattress nowadays.
Still, I hear that hopefully you should be compensated if you loose anything.
Hope yer toe gets better soon, look on the bright side youv'e still got 9 good ones and a broken toe doesn't effect the alcohol flow:thumbsup:

We are October 07 paperbased and have heard nothing apart from the acknowledgement.
Was told at the time by our agent that we wouldn't hear anything for about 5to 6 months, so just sat back and got on with our lives and around April we still hadn't heard anything but we felt it must be pretty soon so we thought we would pe-empty the police checks and medicals so we might go straight to visa.
Well here we are another 6 months on from that and still heard nothing but our time for validation runs out in April once we receive the visa.
So really the decision has to lie with you whether you keep a decent amount of time for your validation or start the clock ticking now.
Bearing in mind if you take the meds and don't receive your visa by it's anniversary then you will have to take them again at more expense.
