Re: paperbased applications thread
Im soo glad to see im not the only one to have delayed the visa process by breaking a leg :p
Hope all goes well with the move. GCSE's are not really recognised over here, as our son found out, but at least he has them to fall back on should he go back to the UK.

Hi
We applied for a 138 subclass skilled Australian family sponsored (OH printer) in july 2007 got full ack in nov 07 case office in dec 07 med requested jan 08 but son broke leg and there was a four month delay on our part before he could have his medical med done jun 08 new police checks required july 08 as two weeks out of date visa granted aug 08. Looking at flights for a validation trip in nov for 3 wks hopefully will be booked by tomorrow. Not going for two years so hoping to get a trip now in november and one next summer and even another if we can squeeze one in but that may be pushing it. We can relax now we have the visa and do everything in our time as our son wishes to do gcse's here first and then go. Regards Michelle |
Re: paperbased applications thread
February onliners are starting to get visas...we seem to be about 2 months behind them so fingers crossed Novemberees should start popping up on here with visa grants.

At least you are out in Oz already, imagine sitting in London in the pouring rain wondering where the summer has gone again:( |

Currently in McMahon's Point, which is divine - views from here in the living room out over the water, and from my bedroom you see the bridge. It was a little treat while I find something permanent, just got it for 2 weeks - start the big househunt tomorrow!

Doing lots of sorting out and getting rid of stuff at the moment but what I need is a VISA to make it all seems real. Phoned DIAC early this morning and spoke to a very nice girl who could give me no useful information (eg WHEN will my visa be granted!) but at least I know all our meds are there. She said that the update was Sept 19th and when I pointed out that had hardly changed in months she said that 176 and 175 visas are processing quicker that other types and implied that they were processing Oct/Nov for 175/176. Can't remember exactly what she said but that's the impression I got. She did say that they had a years worth of applications in August 07 which is why there's such a backlog :( Oh well - it surely can't be too long now. I shall hang on to my sanity for a bit longer!! Mate, we know for a fact October is getting processed - do you look at the current processing time thread and beupdate.co.uk? Be comforted! It's real!
Thanks for the reality check!!!! |

I know exactly what you mean! It totally doesn't seem real at all. At one point I was planning to parachute into Papua New Guinea, kayak over to Queensland and attempt to claim refugee status. But ended up taking the student visa route instead
