In Oz On An Ens Subclass 121 - Low Salary
#1
I have been here in WA for nearly six months now and loving every minute of it. We have settled bought a house and now have set up our lives firmly here in Australia.
One problem I am facing is my extremely low salary. as part of negotiations before accepting the details behind the offer, I noted that the salary on offer was extremely low and I had an email stating I would have a 3 month review and should by then get considerably more than my starting base salary.
The company I am with sposored me but apart from a tolken gesture towards mobilisation I paid all the costs for the visa.
My question is although I feel loyal towards the company that have sponsored me over here, the issue regarding salary uplift has been skirted around several times now and I am concerned that they feel they have tied me into a 3 year contract and therefore can keep me as "cheap labour" and there is not alot I can do about it.
I am sure that the 3 year reference is more to do with the company having to offer the position for at least three years, rather than I being tied into a contract for at least three years.
Can anyone offer any advice please.
Other companies are tapping me up and offering alot more salary, but I am hesitant because I am not sure where I stand with the ENS visa. Realistically I want to stay where I am but if they are not prepared to bring my salary level up then I will have no option but to look at alternatives.
Look forward to your advice

You should discuss the contractual issues with an employment lawyer. Also bear in mind that it's a small employment market in Australia and word does get around.
You should ask your company to review your salary towards what you feel is the market rate. If they refuse to do so, you are free with this visa to investigate other options, but do check the contractual issues separately.
