Your work experience is irrelevant to skills assessment as a Medical Administrator. This forum is NOT the venue to get the professional advice you need.

Marina,

Have you completed any specialist training (general practice included)? I assume not yet with 2 years of postgrad experience?

But, if you have then you would need to have your skills assessed by the AMC in order to obtain conditional specialist registration in your field and you could then apply for whichever category of skilled migration was appropriate for you, the same as any other occupation on the SOL.

Assuming you are still a trainee then your options would include (but are not limited to)
1. Medical practitioner visa
2. Occupational trainee visa
3. 457 business visa
You would need a job and sponsorship from your Australian employer for all of these 3 options.

Hi Madhu,

I can see (from your signature) that you've obtained conditional assessment. Just wondering if you had to go through all those AMC exams and etc even for the conditional registeration too ? or was it different in your case.

Hi Ghangro,

Conditional registration is different to conditional specialist registration.

No I didn't have to do the AMC exam. In fact I was fortunate enough to bypass the AMC altogether to get my conditional specialist registration which is pretty unusual! I could do that because I was awarded FRACGP based on my UK GP qualifications. So I could get conditional specialist registration without any involvement with the AMC.

What are your plans and how are you getting on?

Hi Madhu,

Thanks for explaining the situation. My plans are quite different than yours coz I'm not a Doctor actually but an IT Professional

OK, why I asked you all this! bcoz my wife is a Doctor (GP) and would like to appear for AMC exams to be able to get the medical registeration and work then.

Perhaps there are few doctors here on this forum and these topics (about doctors) are not dicsussed frequently. What you say ?

Hey Ghangro,
Yes you're right - there seem to be few doctors on this site! I'm not sure if it's because relatively few want to migrate to Australia compared to other professions or if its because they just don't use the online forums!!

Best of luck with your plans.

Any doctor can get assessment as Med Administrator. However it carries only 50 points and state nomination is not possible. However if you are under 30 and have work experience, then you might accrue 120 points and apply as Skilled Independent.

Otherwise sit AMC exam or apply training grade jobs in hospitals and you have visa options described above.

I went for MRCGP as one can get a job on MRCGP basis and a positive assessment from RACGP.

OR you apply as a student in masters degree programme and you will have enough points after one year.......to apply as recent Australian graduate.

One year's study is no longer enough.
