Onshore 487 or Graduate Visa - Which one?
I've recently completed my Cert III in Hairdressing and have just had my successful TRA approval back last week.
My dilemma is whether I should apply for the Graduate Visa now and then PR in Dec/Jan (I have a job with payslips currently and need 12 months for MODL points) or should I apply for the Skilled Regional Sponsored Visa 487 now as I appear to be eligable and have over the 100 point pass mark.
My worry is that if I were to apply for the 487 ,following succesful nomination from QLD, and DIAC refused my application (does this happen??) I would then be timed out for the Graduate Visa as 6 months will have elapsed from the time that my course officially ended (3rd Dec 07).
Any advice out there as to my best and safest course of action??
Does DIAC ever refuse pre-nominated application from States for Onshore 487's if youhave the points (assuming health and police checks are ok ofcourse)??
Any thoughts anyone??

Realistically - noone on an online forum is going to be able to give you such specific assistance. Contact a good agent for professional advice, George Lombard in Sydney is a good option.

I second JAJ's advice to contact George - you don't want to make any errors now - you've done the hard yards.
Best of luck.

Thanks for the advice, i'm sure you're both right.
I suppose with the Graduate Visa being so new there is not yet any anecdotal evidence to call upon and the DIAC site just isn't set up to answer such questions.
Are there any annual quotas etc for Onshore 487's?
