I am about to apply for NZ PR however I do not meet the required pass mark and should
be offered a work visa.
Could you help me on the following point-
1)Do I have to enter NZ within a certain time when offered the visa?
2)How long will the visa be for?
3)If the visa is for 6 months do I have to start a job within that time or would a
job offer even if the contract started after the six months be acceptable. Being a
teacher I would like to leave this summer but appointments are not likely to start
untill the following Jan.
4)How long dos it take to get a work permit from the initial application?
Many Thanks

1) They say three months but will accommodate
2) 6 months, but don't worry you can get a job as a waiter then take your papers in
to have them stamped. You then have plenty of time to find work in your profession
3) Don't know
4) 3 months
We recently got NZ PR in less than a month and over the Christmas period.
If I may offer advice: Take time with the forms and present the information they ask
for impeccably.
Don't be afraid to ask the NZIS questions, they are friendly and on your side. We
went to see an immigration agent before lodging the application ourselves. He made it
all sound like a dark art and lead us to believe we would only be successful if we
were to blow a couple of thousand pounds on his services. Obviously not so!
Good luck
