nz PR visa follow up

To anyone who can shed some light. Pls. we need help on this.
1.) Can we make a follow up to our NZ PR visa application ? If so, where can we make
such inquiry ?
2.) How long is the processing time of a NZ PR visa ?
3.) Can I go to NZ as a tourist, apply for Working visa (once I got a job), and then
wait for the said PR visa there ? Does NZIS approve of such method/scheme ?
