NZ policy changes
Hi all
Nothing confirmed yet, but the lapsing letters for old GSC are already out, and mainly appear to cause lapsing around December 8th, implying new SMC will take effect that month. Legislation was modified and signed off in Parliament last month, and might be ready to go in December...
Investor category change was signed off and ready to go but went back to drawing board as being "too tough". This cateogory was targeted for relaunch same time as SMC, however no recent confirmation of same launch time has been had.
No news about LTBV changes, and I don't really expect any, these are being controlled by interpretation of policy rather than policy itself. Makes it all rather vague and difficult to advise accurately, as it takes 5 months for NZIS shifting interpretation to be tested against new applications.
Guardian visa now launched as mentioned in earlier posts, targeting English language students. This is an improvement.
Visitor Visa changes to facilitate job hunting will follow next year, in mean time don't be afraid to carry Cvs and laptops with you, just remember to carry a copy of relevant guide or list yourself as business visitor, in case a less well trained officer who hasn't drunk their coffee stops you.
Would be nice if NZIS moved themselves onto front foot and gave clearer notice of these changes.
Good luck
